Makkah – Corporate Communications

A medical team from the Urology Department at King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster, has successfully performed two advanced procedures using flexible kidney stone endoscopy (RIRS) through a state-of-the-art robotic surgical system.

The medical city explained that these procedures come as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing specialized medical services and keeping pace with the latest healthcare technologies. The surgeries were led by Consultant Urologist Dr. Muhanna Saleh Subahi.

It was noted that the robotic system specialized in flexible endoscopic kidney stone surgery provides highly precise control of endoscope movement, while significantly reducing the physical and mental strain on surgeons during delicate procedures. This contributes to improved surgical efficiency, reduced operation time, and lower risk of complications compared to the traditional manual endoscopic approach—particularly in complex cases or those involving multiple stones.

This milestone reflects King Abdullah Medical City’s dedication to adopting advanced medical technologies that enhance patient safety, improve surgical performance, and elevate the quality of healthcare services, in alignment with the objectives of the Healthcare Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
